The Chemical Brothers - Swoon (Lindstrom & Prins Thomas Remix)

I’ve been on quite the disco kick lately, and this late-2010 remix of The Chemical Brothers epic track “Swoon” has me on a psychedelic disco adventure. The Norwegian Lindstrom and Prins Thomas take this heady track on a ride on the Scandinavian space-age-disco train, a la Todd Terje, with synths that are pretty much out of this world. I would love to hear this jam with my feet in the sand somewhere. Can’t wait for summer.

Andre Crom - Hypnotizing (Homework NYC ‘82 Mix)

Amsterdam’s up and coming duo, Homework takes this track by Andre Crom back to NYC 90s house with warm vibes and classic samples. [4:04] is probably my favorite build, and when the beat comes back in I’m put into a hypnotic trance where my feet and head move with no direction from my brain. On repeat. Warm and fuzzy.

Four Tet - 0181 (album) [download]

image

Kieran Hebdan, better known as Four Tet just released a free album today, “0181” that is a mix of trippy, dreamy, and jazzy electronic beats. This album was compiled in 2012 but includes sounds created between 1997-2001. The jazzy little bit at [19:30] is currently tickling my eardrums, and reminds me a lot of Bonobo’s Black Sands. Enjoy!

The Bamboos - The Wilhelm Scream (feat. Megan Washington)

James Blake’s post-dubstep ballad reinvented by The Bamboos and Megan Washington. This is a beautiful, mellow, and jazzy take on the already fabulous original. For some reason I can picture this song going to the credits of a bomb movie. Maybe someone should do it. This strikes me as an evening song.

Cities of Foam - Girls in Bars [download]

I wrote about Cities of Foam a few weeks ago, and I wanted to share another one of my favorites tracks off their album, A Great Day for the Race. “Girls in Bars” is an upbeat and jazzy electronic track with a heady groove. Mildly psychedelic and very catchy.

More Cities of Foam here.

Cities of Foam - Last Man Standing [download]

Found this band on my iPod the other day. I had totally forgotten about them until it randomly came up. These guys are super mellow, I highly recommend you download the album for whenever you feel like chilling out and listening to some cool, ambient, jazzy tunes.

Urulu - Untitled 02 [download the 3-song EP here]

A free EP, entitled “The Untitleds EP” by Los Angeles based DJ Urulu. I saw this dude spin at Central once and this guy knows how to drop some solid deep house. “Untitled 2” has a great build and some sick jazzy cuts. Peep it.

Bonobo - Dinosaurs [download]

I was browsing through my collection of Bonobo tunes yesterday, and I happened upon the “One Off Remixes and B-Sides” album from 2002. I gotta say, I absolutely love Bonobo and all of Simon Green’s works, and after giving this album a thorough listen, I’m absolutely stunned that many of these tracks never made it to his actual albums, instead set aside for a “remixes and B-sides album.” Don’t be fooled, though. These songs are far from B-grade…In fact, some of his remixes and B-sides impressed me even more than the songs that actually made it onto his albums! If you enjoy this subtle, jazzier edit of “Dinosaurs” as much as I did, be sure to give this a good listen. Also, remind me to always check my record’s b-sides for hidden gems.

Solid Steel Radio Show- 23/9/2011 Part 3 + 4: Nightmares on Wax + Interview w/Kid Koala

I’m feeling kind of jazzy this morning, especially with that swanky, lounged-out feel of Nicolas Jaar’s music. (If you didn’t give the last track a listen, you may get an idea of where I found it ;-)

Nightmares on Wax throw down a really jazzy, upbeat set on my favorite label, Ninja Tune (Bonobo, Amon Tobin…etc). Part 4 includes an interview with Kid Koala. Do it live.
